Memories of painful experiences connected to her body led me to question the link between body and mind, and how we remember it. I revisited my mother’s personal memories of her body through small texts she shared with me. In this project I revisit my memories of hospital environments and painful experiences through photographic reenactments, using my body as both subject and archive. By reconstructing fragments of memory and documenting them, I examine the boundaries between lived experience, imagination, and physical presence. The phenomena of landlocked countries desperately travelling to the seaside reveals specific tourist behaviour – the temporary reconstruction of foreign beaches into familiar, controlled environments. That inspired me to document Polish and Croatian beaches, overcrowded and covered in plastic creations by the tourists.
